Aretha Tilmouth
Vice President & Cultural Advisor
- I am a proud Warlpiri woman, born and raised in the Yuendumu Community. I am fluent in Warlpiri, Luritja, and Pintupi—languages widely spoken throughout Central Australia.
- Apart from my cultural fluency and knowledge, I have firsthand experience of the barriers Aboriginal people face, particularly in relation to alcohol and other drugs (AOD), family and domestic violence (FDV), and access to culturally appropriate services. My leadership is grounded in lived experience, cultural strength, and a passion for empowering her community.
- I am married to a local Aboriginal man from Alice Springs who is Eastern Arrernte and Anmatyerr. He is part of a well-known, culturally connected family, and like myself, has lived experience of the systemic and cultural barriers Aboriginal peoples continue to face. His father is a member of the Stolen Generations, and through this family history, he carries deep personal insight into the intergenerational trauma still experienced by many Aboriginal families today. This lived understanding further strengthens our organisation’s approach to trauma-informed, healing-centred care.
